Herd That 74, Best Virginia 61

Wheeling, W.Va. — In tonight’s highly anticipated rematch between Best Virginia and Herd That in The Basketball Tournament, Best Virginia took early control of the game, leading throughout the first three quarters. However, Herd That’s impressive 14-0 run, powered by J.P. Tokoto’s 7 points, shifted the score from 41-49 at the 2:18 mark in the third quarter to 55-49 with 7:14 left in the fourth. Herd That extended their lead, ultimately securing a 74-61 victory. Jon Elmore and James Kelly led Herd That in scoring with 16 points each, while Derek Cooke Jr. added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Best Virginia’s Kevin Jones stood out with 18 points and 13 rebounds.

In the second game of the night, Challenge ALS: Florida held a narrow 52-51 lead going into the Elam Ending. However, Sideline Cancer stepped up when it mattered most, going on an impressive nine-point run without a response, ultimately securing a 60-51 victory. Antonio Blakeney showcased his scoring prowess, leading all scorers with 18 points for Challenge ALS: Florida. Nevertheless, it was Marcus Keene who proved to be the driving force behind Sideline Cancer’s win, contributing 17 points and 7 rebounds to their successful performance.

Herd That will now face Sideline Cancer in the West Virginia Regional Championship Game on Saturday, 7/29, at 2 pm EST on ESPN 94.1 & AM 930 WRVC.
